Integrating coaching and
psychotherapy

Coaching and psychotherapy are powerful catalysts for change, but focusing on the mind alone is not enough. We mentor coaches and therapists in somatic practices which integrate the mental, physical and behavioral, thereby facilitating sustainable transformation.

Our Ethos

At the Somatic Mentorship Program, we believe in integration: integration of mind, body and spirit, of coaching and psychotherapy, and of the parts and the whole. In our Program these are bridged by combining scientific understandings with mystical ones; based on a foundation of somatic theory, technique and practices.
01

Coaching moves us towards our future

Coaching helps us to design and step into our future. It helps us unearth our strengths, capacities and dreams, paving the way for genuine transformation, and transition from the present towards our goals and dreams.

02

Therapy integrates our lived experience

Therapy helps us navigate life's experiences, ensuring that we do so in a way that integrates what we experience, learn from mistakes and challenges, and come to embrace the self that our lives have allowed to emerge.
03

Neuroscience meets mysticism and myth

Blending neuro-scientific observations with the intuitive wisdom of ancient mysticism and myth allows us to create an holistic approach to understanding the self. Combining science with the spiritual allows for comprehensive integration of the human experience, and a deepening of the connection between self, other and consciousness as a whole.
04

Creating the future of our industry

Through somatic practices, the realms of personal development and psychotherapy find common ground: in the landscape of our living wholeness. Somatics combine scientific theory with felt-sense awareness, unlocking a deeper understanding of emotions, trauma and the human experience. In somatics our collective wisdom converges, redefining the future of integrative wellness.

Who Are We?

Image

Kate Appleton, LPC, SEP, TEB and Will Rezin are co-founders of the Somatic Mentorship Program. A mother and son team, Kate has worked as a Special Ed Teacher, Psychotherapist & Trauma Specialist, Somatic Coach, & Family Consultant, and Will is a leading expert in the field of personal development with a focus on trauma education and somatics.

Both have a multidisciplinary approach to their work, each drawing from therapeutic and coaching disciplines, and taking techniques from masters of the field such as Peter Levine, Pat Ogden, Stephen Porges, Stanley Keleman, Gabor Mate, Stephen Terrell, Kathy Kain, Bonnie Bainbridge-Cohen, Deb Dana, Moshe Feldenkrais, Ken Wilber, Richard Rohr, Carl Jung, Joseph Campbell, Eugene Gendlin, and many others.

During countless conversations over many years, Kate and Will became increasingly aware of the similarities between the realms of coaching and psychotherapy - and how both of them bridged the gap between these occasionally distant disciplines using their trainings in somatic practices and principles.

They decided to build a program which would support professionals from their respective fields, in a collaborative and connected way: teaching, mentoring and conducting case reviews which illuminate the essential and integrative nature of somatics, and will empower helping professionals to confidently utilize these in their practices.

Our Vision & Mission

Our Mission is to build a bridge between the fields of coaching and psychotherapy, founded on an approach which attends to the SOMA - or “our living wholeness”.

In our independent practices, we engage in multidisciplinary approaches, drawing from multiple modalities and developmental theories, studied and practiced over a cumulative 4 decades working with clients and patients.

Though our fields have historically been placed in opposition, during our discussions we saw the potential of integration and collaboration.

Therefore, our Vision is one of community, connection and relational collaboration between healing professions.

Our goal is to create a unified field of helping professionals, connected by a shared language, dedication to integrative practice and a desire to care for their clients' and patients' wholeness in ways that enables sustainable transformation.

Thus, we created the Somatic Mentorship Program.

This program offers the education, resources, community and mentorship that we believe is fundamental to the creation of this unified field.

When you join this program, and the community at its heart, you will engage in mutual mentorship, shared wisdom and peer-to-peer support.

The Somatic Mentorship Program offers you the opportunity to find belonging, and become part of the team building a bridge between coaching and psychotherapy, and infusing a somatic approach into the dynamic fields of human growth and the healing industry.
